Luna Moths: a Pride Month Insect Pinning Class with Cottage Corpse (June 29)

$95.00

Learn how to prepare and preserve a luna moth and take home your very own framed specimen! If you’ve admired Cottage Corpse’s work in Garlic Girl Vintage and been curious about the process, this workshop is for you. Ren, the artist behind Cottage Corpse, will guide you through the art and science of preserving insects to learn from and enjoy.

This class coincides with end of Pride Month and the Strawberry full moon. Named after the Roman moon goddess, Luna moths have become an unofficial sapphic symbol and a favorite for many.

All supplies are provided, including your luna moth.

We’ll start the class with background on entomology, the ethics and sustainability of insect art, and plenty of fun facts about luna moths. Then you’ll learn how to pin your very own insect and all the steps involved. The insect will need to dry for about a week, then you can pick them up. Ren will place your insect in a Riker box for ease of transport and display.

This event starts at 7:00 pm and will last about two hours.

Cancellation policy: If you must cancel, please do so 72 hours in advance to receive a refund, less a $3 cancellation fee to cover costs incurred by credit card fees. Cancellations made less than 72 hours before the event and no shows are not eligible for refunds.
